Non-Intrusive Investigation
Not so long ago, to fully investigate a structure would possibly have entailed, extensive intrusive works. There were, and are some techniques that allow for example, rebar scanning. However, in the main these were more suited to identifying services, and perhaps, the top layer of reinforcement.
In recent years there has been a sea-change in the technology. Today it is possible to see deep into concrete, and determine its condition and the reinforcement layout, to significant depths.
To be clear it’s not all about the technology. Our trained engineers have considerable experience and expertise, enabling them to interpret the findings and provide detailed information to, for example, structural engineers. This data helps inform design decisions.
It is useful to carry out some limited intrusive works to validate findings, and our team can take samples for further testing in our UKAS accredited laboratories.
In certain sectors, nuclear and defence being prime examples, intrusive investigation is not possible. Thus, it is only by employing these innovative techniques, that the structure can be fully understood.
